Actor Rana Daggubati Heading Up New WWE Campaign In India

A new campaign in India

Renowned actor Rana Daggubati has been revealed as the new face of the WWE campaign in India as part of the promotion's partnership with Sony Ten 4.

Sony Ten 4 - A sports channel based in India - is the home of the WWE product in India and, as part of the campaign to bring more people to the product, the two entities have united to bring in Daggubati as an ambassador for the promotion.

As part of a campaign shoot, the 36-year-old was spotted holding a WWE Championship belt, interacting with children, and performing stunts with ring ropes.

Daggubati is considered one of the few actors in India who were able to achieve pan-Indian appeal and is widely recognised as one of the leading actors in Telugu cinema. It is hoped his appeal will lead to a stronger following for WWE in Tamil- and Telugu-speaking markets.

A representative from Sony Sports said, per Fightful, "WWE is one of the most viewed properties on the sports channels in India and has a strong following in Tamil- and Telugu-speaking markets. Rana's love of sports and WWE is well-documented in the public domain. So, Rana Daggubati is the ideal choice to front the campaign."

WWE and Sony Pictures Networks India announced a five-year extension to their broadcast agreement in March 2020, which saw the terms expanded to cover localised content in India and the Indian subcontinent.
