Adam Cole has confirmed he had a meeting with Vince McMahon prior to making his decision to leave WWE and join All Elite Wrestling.
Cole made his shock debut for AEW at All Out 2021 on Sunday evening, aligning with his old friends in The Elite, after departing WWE last month.
Reports circulated at the start of August that former NXT Champion Cole was invited to a Friday Night SmackDown taping for a face-to-face meeting with McMahon about his future in WWE, something Cole has now confirmed.
Despite leaving WWE, Cole says the talks were really good and doesn't have a bad word to say about McMahon. The new AEW recruit was full of praise for his new boss, Tony Khan, too.
Talking during the most All Out media scrum, Cole said: "The talk (with McMahon) went great. We had a really, really good conversation about a lot of different things. But the actual conversation itself was awesome.
"I had no bad experience with him whatsoever. He is an intimidating man that definitely commands respect in a lot of ways, but the experience itself was totally fine.
"Working and being around, well I just started tonight, but being around Tony is so cool for so many different reasons. The biggest one is how contagious his love for wrestling is. I know that I love pro-wrestling, but you can’t help but be more excited and more ready to go and more fired up when you’re around Tony. I feel like I can go and talk to Tony about anything, which is so cool.
"And I’m not just saying this because he’s sitting here, I say this to everybody, but Tony is an amazing, amazing person.”
