AEW became top dog of Wednesday nights once again this week, after several weeks trailing NXT in the ratings.

Following on from NXT’s ratings victory across both weeks of The Great American Bash against AEW’s two-week Fyter Fest, the special Fight For The Fallen episode of AEW: Dynamite swung the odds back in their favour.

AEW did 788,000 viewers and a 0.29 (380,000 viewers) in that all important 18-49 demographic, with Fight For The Fallen producing the company’s best numbers since May 27.

Headlined by AEW Champion Jon Moxley vs. Brian Cage, Fight For The Fallen went head to head-to-head with WWE NXT, which was headlined by NXT Women's Champion Io Shirai defending against Tegan Nox, and featured dual NXT and North American Champion Keith Lee taking on Dominik Dijakovic.

NXT, in turn, did 631,000 viewers and 0.14 (186,000 viewers) in the 18-49 demo; NXT’s worst numbers since May 20, and the second-lowest 18-49 number in the history of the show.

With both shows producing unpredictable numbers since the Covid-19 crisis took hold, it’ll be interesting to see how ratings pan out over the next few weeks. What's for sure will be Chris Jericho’s reaction to the news, with Le Champion loudly touting the importance of the 18-49 demographic on AEW: Dynamite in recent weeks.
