AEW Owen Hart Cup Scheduled For May 2022
Culminating at Double or Nothing
AEW has released several details on the Owen Hart Cup throughout the day on Friday, including when the tournament will take place.
It was announced during Friday night's Rampage that the tournament will run this coming May, with the finals occurring at Double or Nothing, presumably on Memorial Day weekend.
Tony Khan revealed on Busted Open Radio earlier Friday that there will be both men's and women's tournaments, and that both tournaments will feature singles competition.
Khan also revealed that Dr. Martha Hart will present the trophies to the winners.
AEW entered into a partnership with the Owen Hart Foundation in September. The statement for the collaboration read, in part, "This collaboration includes launching the annual Owen Hart Cup Tournament within AEW, which will see the winner receive a Cup known as 'The Owen,' as well as the production and distribution of unique and original Owen Hart merchandise, including specified retail goods as well as the upcoming AEW console video game.
"This alliance incorporates opportunities to develop Owen Hart action figures via AEW’s partnership with Jazwares, apparel, posters, and additional collectable merchandise."
