AEW Talent Wins Indy Championship

An All Elite Wrestling talent has captured a championship on the independent wrestling scene. 

House of Glory held their 'The Darkest Hour' event at NYC Arena in New York City on December 1 and the show was main evented by a No Holds Barred Match for the HOG Heavyweight Championship.

The match saw Matt Cardona defend the gold against AEW's Mike Santana and after two ref bumps and Matt Cardona revealing he had a bag of broken Santana action figures, Mike Santana connected with a Powerbomb for the victory after 16 minutes. Santana then ended the show by stating he has been through hell to capture the gold and proclaimed himself the "King of New York."

Santana recently made his return to HOG, defeating Rocky Romero in October. The former LAX member recently went out on his own in AEW, defeating former tag team partner Ortiz in a No DQ Match on the October 27 edition of Rampage. 

Santana wasn't the only AEW talent in action at 'The Darkest Hour' and Swerve Strickland continued to pick up momentum as he defeated "Speedball" Mike Bailey.
