AEW To Change Battle Of The Belts Card

All Elite Wrestling's first TNT 'Battle Of The Belts' special is set to air on Saturday, January 8 from the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Currently advertised for the one-hour special is a rematch between Cody Rhodes and Sammy Guevara for the TNT Championship and an AEW Women's World Title match between Britt Baker and Riho.

The card is set to be altered, though, and AEW announced on Thursday night a change will be made to the Battle Of The Belts lineup during Friday's edition of Rampage due to "medical protocol."

"TOMORROW on #AEWRampage @ 10/9c on TNT there will be an announced change due to medical protocol to Saturday's #AEWBOTB Battle of the Belts card. The Rampage card is #HOOK vs Solo - Dr Baker/Hayter vs Riho/Ruby Soho - Cole vs Atlas - No DQ 2point0/Garcia vs Kingston/Santana/Ortiz," AEW tweeted.

Some have speculated the "medical protocol" relates to the rapidly-spreading Omicron variant of COVID-19 but if that is the case remains to be confirmed.
