AEW World Title Match Set For Dynasty

AEW Dynasty confirmed to feature a men’s world title match

The AEW World Championship will be on the line at AEW Dynasty on April 21, and on the March 27 edition of Dynamite, Samoa Joe found out who he will be facing at the pay-per-view event.

Spurred on by his quest to become the first African-American AEW World Champion, Swerve Strickland overcame Konosuke Takeshita in a hard-hitting singles match to become the new number one contender. Strickland came close to gaining the AEW World Championship at Revolution on March 3, but Joe emerged from their three-way match unscathed, having choked out Strickland’s perennial rival Hangman Page to retain the title.

After Swerve scored the win, an angry Joe told Renee Paquette that Swerve will realise just what he’s gotten himself into when he signs the match contract next week.

Elsewhere, the TBS Title got itself a new number one contender on Dynamite, as Willow Nightingale overcame Skye Blue, Anna Jay, and Kris Statlander to book herself a shot against Julia Hart at Dynasty.

Updated card, AEW Dynasty, April 21, 2024:

  • Samoa Joe (c) vs. Swerve Strickland - AEW World Championship
  • Julia Hart (c) vs. Willow Nightingale - TBS Championship
  • Will Ospreay vs. Bryan Danielson
  • AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament Final
