For months, it was rumoured that Marty Scurll was set to join up with his former Bullet Club brothers Cody, The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Hangman Page in All Elite Wrestling. However, instead of joining AEW,

The Villain chose to re-sign with Ring Of Honor

in the most lucrative deal in the promotion's history. He also became Joint Head Booker of ROH programming.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter

that had Scurll signed with AEW, he would have been revealed as The Exalted One in Dark Order on the December 18 episode of Dynamite. However, with Scurll staying in ROH, they seemingly had to go back to the drawing board.

Now,

AEW Executive Vice President Matt Jackson

has revealed the young promotion had no plans to introduce the leader of Villain Enterprises as The Exalted One. During a recent Q&A on his Instagram story, Jackson simply replied "nope" when a fan asked if Marty was going to be the leader of Dark Order.

AEW still looks set to reveal the identity of The Exalted One somewhere down the line, however, with SCU's Christopher Daniels and WWE Superstar Matt Hardy currently the favourites.
