AJ Styles: How Can You Argue The World Heavyweight Title Isn't Secondary?

AJ Styles admits that WWE's new World Heavyweight Championship is currently "secondary", but that may change...

In a recent interview with the New York Post, WWE Superstar AJ Styles has acknowledged that the World Heavyweight Championship is a secondary title - but claims that this may not always be the case.

“Is it secondary? Well if the Raw championship is held by Roman, the SmackDown championship is held by Roman, then how can you argue that it’s not? We had to make a new championship because Roman holds them all.

“What happens if he decides to wrestle for the World Heavyweight championship? It is what it is and we got what we got [...] If and when Roman does challenge [for it] we beat the brakes off of him, whomever it might be - then we’ll see what title’s secondary.”

Styles is a two-time WWE Champion himself, but is set to wrestle Seth Rollins for the new World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions this Saturday. It is currently still unclear whether the lineage of the previous World Heavyweight Championship will continue, or the winner of Rollins vs. Styles will become the inaugural champion of a new lineage.
