AJ Styles would like to see WWE fully enter the Japanese market, with Styles hoping a move could re-invigorate the Japanese wrestling scene.

Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast, Styles pointed to WWE’s stewardship of Lucha Libre AAA and how he’d like to see the sports entertainment behemoth do something similar in Japan:

“And give me something over in Japan. Oh, man, I would love WWE to find a way to be in Japan kind of like the way AAA is. We’re not changing what they’re doing. We’re not trying to change the culture. We’re just putting our spin on it man,” Styles said.

WWE have boasted many top level Japanese talent as part of their ranks in recent years, with the likes of IYO SKY, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Asuka amongst others having scaled great heights in the company.

“I believe that with the help of WWE, we would be able to revive Japanese wrestling to where it was. I would love to see it back where it’s the Tokyo Dome. I’m talking about not like a WrestleMania over there. I’m just saying it’s the company selling out the Tokyo Dome like it did in what was it, the early 90s? But yeah, that’d be up to the talent,” continued Styles.

WWE have long been rumoured to have had eyes on entering the Japanese market, with an alleged move to purchase Pro Wrestling NOAH in 2019 failing to materialise.
