Heyman was a huge advocate for Black in WWE

Aleister Black has taken to social media to thank Paul Heyman for 'always having my back' in WWE.
Black was one of six names confirmed as released by WWE on Wednesday 2 June, along with Braun Strowman, Ruby Riott, Lana, Buddy Murphy and Santana Garrett.
The former NXT Champion had been touted as a future main-event player in WWE and Heyman, as Executive Director of Raw, was a big supporter of Black during their time together on the red brand.
It has been rumoured that Heyman viewed Black as a talent destined for the main event in WWE, with some reports even suggesting the decision was between him and Drew McIntyre for who should challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 36.
However, when Heyman was removed from the role in June 2020, the WWE creative team struggled to figure out what to do with Black.
With Black now departing the promotion, he has tweeted his thanks to Heyman for mentoring him and looking out for him in the promotion.
He wrote: "Before I forget, a special mention goes to @HeymanHustle for always having my back, and to this day acts like a mentor to me. Since day one Paul was in my corner."
