Angel Dawkins holds his crutch after interfering in the match between DIY and the Motor City Machine Guns at Royal Rumble 2025

WWE star Angelo Dawkins recently underwent knee surgery, which explains why he was using a crutch at the 2025 Royal Rumble.

Dawkins and his Street Profits partner Montez Ford got involved in the 2 Out of 3 Falls WWE Tag Team Championship match between DIY and The Motor City Machine Guns on the show, costing Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin their opportunity at regaining the titles (and then attacking DIY after the match).

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Dawkins had surgery to repair a torn meniscus within the past couple of weeks, saying:

"So Angelo Dawkins had minor knee surgery, torn meniscus, I believe, just in the last couple of weeks. So that's why you had the crutch. And I don't know that that was ever explained. Was that explained?.

"I don't remember it in commentary at all. Does anyone know why they like it? The guy's got a crutch, but that is the reason. And, and the, you know, you know, actually, in the post-show, Big E brought it up, you know, just out of nowhere, just like, oh yeah, he just had knee surgery. So, you know, I think Dawkins had told him, like, earlier that afternoon. So it didn't even seem like it was something that, like he was supposed to say. It was just something that he kind of said".

Dawkins last wrestled at a non-televised WWE live event on December 28.

Last year, it was speculated that The Street Profits may be leaving WWE, but that is not the case as the tag team are locked into deals with the company.
