Arn Anderson: Vince McMahon Created The Spirit Squad To Entertain Himself

The Spirit Squad was formed in 2006

Arn Anderson believes Vince McMahon created the Spirit Squad faction just to entertain himself in WWE.

The Spirit Squad debuted in WWE in 2006 and, having won the Raw Tag Team Championships from Big Show and Kane, became involved in McMahon's feud with the newly reformed D-Generation X in Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

Anderson does not believe there was ever really a long-term plan for The Spirit Squad and feels McMahon was just entertaining himself with the group of male cheerleaders.

Speaking in the latest episode of his ARN Podcast, he said: "I wasn’t much of a Spirit Squad fan and the whole concept. Nick Nemeth survived it, Dolph Ziggler. The rest of the guys, who were all good guys, but just the whole concept.

"I think it was just Vince entertaining himself because he can. That’s the problem with billionaires sometimes. They do things that entertain themselves when it’s not in the other people’s best interest, but, I guess they’re billionaires. They can do what they want."
