Having tried and failed to cash in his Casino Gauntlet contract multiple times, Christian Cage finally cashed it in during the main event of AEW Revolution to turn the match into a Three-Way.
Christian was ultimately unsuccessful in the main event of Revolution, however. After dragging the referee out of the ring to cost Cope the AEW World Title, Cage proceeded to take out his former best friend with a Spear and Killswitch. Christian was unable to capitalise, though, as Jon Moxley suddenly appeared and choked out Christian to win the match and record another successful AEW World Title defence.
According to Fightful Select, the ending of AEW Revolution was pitched to Christian Cage during the week leading up to the pay-per-view. There was some backlash to Jon Moxley vs. Cope going on last at Revolution but Fightful Select noted that as of a week before the show, the AEW World Title match was scheduled to be the main event. Tony Khan addressed why the AEW World Title match ended Revolution during the post-show media scrum.
Christian Cage earned a Money in the Bank-esque title opportunity courtesy of his win in the Casino Gauntlet at All In 2024.
