Toni Storm was scheduled to go one-on-one with Marina Shafir in a No Holds Barred Match on Wednesday night's episode of Dynamite from Fresno, California but the match didn't take place in its original form.
Just 10 minutes before Dynamite went on the air, AEW shared a clip on social media of Toni Storm lying in a pool of blood in the locker room as she was tended to by Mina Shirakawa and Luther. It was then announced at the beginning of Dynamite that Storm was not cleared for her match. She was replaced by Mina Shirakawa, with Mina defeating Marina Shafir following a Storm Zero.
Bryan Alvarez has reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Toni Storm is dealing with a legitimate issue as Mina Shirakawa was a "legitimate replacement" for the former AEW Women's World Champion on Dynamite.
"All I know is this was a legitimate replacement, meaning something actually happened to Toni. She clearly seems to have got hurt because she wasn't cleared for the show. But it wasn't until the last minute. They advertised this all the way until today. It wasn't until 10 minutes before the show that I guess they were waiting and waiting and hoping and then at the last second they were like, 'Not going to happen,'" Alvarez said.
How long Toni Storm will be on the shelf is unknown. She looked set to face Ronda Rousey in singles or tag team action at a future event after Rousey made her AEW debut and confronted Storm following Toni's win against Marina Shafir at Revolution.
