TNA Wrestling recently announced a ban to excessive bloodletting and blading on TV, amidst reports the brand were looking for new TV deals.
A follow-up report from Fightful Select states that TNA management felt TNA as a brand was going ‘overboard’ with bloodletting in recent times, and wanted blade jobs to ‘mean more’ whenever they allow them again… whenever that may be.
Some have noted the similarities between TNA and working partner WWE, with WWE long having a blanket ban on blading and blood since the claret strewn days of the Ruthless Aggression era. In recent years, WWE have allowed a handful of wrestlers to ‘get colour’, and it remains to be seen if TNA will adopt a similar mantra.
As to TNA seeking a new broadcast partner, Fightful’s report corroborates Jon Alba’s initial findings, with it noted the company have been shopping IMPACT’s broadcast rights around ‘for some time’. It is certainly a good time for TNA to be looking to form new broadcast relationships and inking new deals, with the aforementioned partnership with WWE bringing new eyes onto the brand, with TNA World Champion Joe Hendry even wrestling at WrestleMania 41.
