Much has been said about Cody Rhodes needing to ‘finish the story’, but with the recent WWE returns of CM Punk and The Rock, many have wondered if Rhodes will finally win the big one at WrestleMania XL, or if he will have to keep waiting.
Whilst Rhodes vs. Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns could be on the cards at Mania, Reigns vs. Rock is equally as likely, whilst there is also the possibility of a triple threat match between the three men.
Rhodes and Rock were recently pictured together backstage at WWE Day 1 in early January, and a report from Fightful Select has shed some more light on their interaction. Rock and Rhodes embraced in Gorilla Position, and WWE sources revealed to Fightful that Rock was seemingly verbally supporting Rhodes’ work and his path in WWE.
It must be noted that whilst the tone of their conversation was said to be ‘supportive’ with Rock not ‘looking to get in Rhodes’ way’, it did take place just before Rock’s in-ring promo where he dropped a line about ‘The Head of the Table’ - a line most seemingly didn’t know was coming.
The Rock was revealed to be a new addition to the TKO Board of Directors on January 23, ensuring that ‘The Great One’ will be a part of WWE operations for some time yet.
