Backstage Reaction To Big E's WWE Title Reign Reportedly Emerges

Big E's Title run ended at 110 days

Big E's first reign as WWE Champion came to an end at the hands of Brock Lesnar at WWE Day 1 on Saturday, and backstage reaction to his run as the top Title holder has reportedly come to light.

As previously noted, it has been reported that Big E was initially scheduled to retain the WWE Title against Bobby Lashley, Big E and Seth Rollins at WWE Day 1. However, those plans changed when Lesnar was added to the match at the last minute, due to Roman Reigns testing positive for COVID-19.

The loss ends Big E's WWE Championship reign at 110 days and, according to Fightful Select, many people backstage in WWE felt that Big E was not booked consistently throughout his run as WWE Champion.

While Big E successfully defended the Title in televised matches against Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre and Austin Theory during his reign, the New Day member was also defeated multiple times by Roman Reigns in the cross-brand warfare, and also recently lost to Lashley in a No Disqualification Match.

It is also noted, per the report, that many people involved in Big E's storylines would go 'above and beyond' to try and ensure things on screen made sense for Big E and his run as champion.
