Becky Lynch Vs. Bianca Belair Announced For WWE Extreme Rules

A rematch from SummerSlam

The expected rematch for the SmackDown Women's title between Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair will be held at Extreme Rules on September 26 in Columbus, OH.

A contract signing for the match is scheduled to take place on the September 10 episode of SmackDown at Madison Square Garden.

Belair became number one contender by winning a four way match over Zelina Vega, Carmella, and Liv Morgan on last week's SmackDown.

Lynch won the title in an impromptu match at SummerSlam nearly two weeks ago. Belair was originally scheduled to defend the title against Sasha Banks at the pay-per-view, before Banks was pulled for undisclosed reasons. After the teasing of Carmella as a replacement opponent for Belair, Lynch was named as the new challenger. In a surprisingly short match, Lynch defeated Belair in roughly 30 seconds to win the belt.

The brief match was Lynch's first bout of any kind since defeating Shayna Baszler at WrestleMania 36 in 2020. A month after the event, Lynch went off on maternity leave, ceding the Raw Women's title to Money in the Bank briefcase holder Asuka in the process.

Lynch vs. Belair is presently the only match announced for the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.
