An iconic independent wrestling venue will stop hosting professional wrestling events following a recent fan incident at the building.
Game Changer Wrestling announced on Thursday that their show at the Berwyn Eagles Club in Berwyn, Illinois on June 20 had been scrapped after being informed by the venue that all events at the Berwyn Eagles Club will have to be cancelled.
AAW then announced their Crush & Destroy event on April 24 will be the final pro wrestling show at the Berwyn Eagles Club. AAW wrote:
"Crush & Destroy on April 24th 2026 will be the FINAL EVENT at the Berwyn Eagles Club. It started with AAW in February of 2004 and it will end with AAW on April 24th. Tickets are limited as there will be an attendance cap due to town regulations.
"There are thousands of memories within the walls of this venue and it has had such a powerful influence on what you see on tv today. We hope to have you all join us for a final one on 4/24.
"Everyone at AAW is saddened by this turn of events but we will deliver a last incredible show in Berwyn only as AAW can! Let’s have a great time together!"
The fan incident occurred following Ruthless Pro Wrestling's OMEGA event on Saturday, March 28 when Krule was allegedly stabbed following a confrontation with a fan.
The story emerged after a video filmed by TJ DeHaan and shared by deathmatch wrestler Lou Nixon following the show showed several wrestlers punching a man, before the fan eventually exited the building. It was claimed that the video was filmed after a fan stabbed Krule, with Lou Nixon claiming to Cultaholic that Krule and the individual who allegedly attacked him had issues throughout the night. Mickie Knuckles also claimed that Krule and the fan stared at each other before the fan allegedly tackled Krule across a merchandise table and stabbed the wrestler.
An anonymous source, however, also told Cultaholic that there wasn't a stabbing and they believed the stabbing story was invented as a way to "save face and to not look bad on the internet." Later video footage of the incident then showed the fan confronting Krule before the former MLW World Heavyweight Champion began to throw punches. There was no sign of a knife in the clip, and Fightful Select has reported that a number of people they had spoken to who were at the show didn't see a knife.
GCW owner Brett Lauderdale has stated that Berwyn Eagles Club no longer hosting pro wrestling events is directly tied to what he described as "the fake stabbing."
"This was directly caused by an incident (the fake stabbing) that took place at another promotions event which has caused the town, lawyers & police to be involved. It's truly a shame to see the Berwyn Eagles and 20+ years of Chicago wrestling history come to an end like this," Lauderdale tweeted, before adding: "It wasnt a stunt, it was a lie made up by the locker room and the promoters to justify a gang beatdown."
According to Cagematch, Berwyn Eagles Club has hosted 284 professional wrestling events since 2005. The majority of the shows are from AAW, but the likes of GCW, SHIMMER, RISE, and Ruthless Pro Wrestling regularly held events at the venue.
