Big E has revealed he only found out about his successful Money In The Bank cash-in on the day it happened, while only learning he would be at WWE Monday Night Raw the day before.

Big E called his shot on social media on Monday 13 September, revealing to fans he would be at Raw to cash in his Money In The Bank contract. The New Day member didn't disappoint, cashing in on Bobby Lashley following his WWE Title defence against Randy Orton to become the new WWE Champion.

The 35-year-old has now opened up on the backstage process behind his WWE Championship win, revealing he only realised he was going to be on Monday Night Raw after finishing up at a WWE live event on the Sunday.

It was when he arrived at Raw that he found out about his impending success.

Speaking with Bleacher Report’s Graham Matthews, Big E revealed: "When I started this loop, my intention was that I was supposed to be home Monday morning after the live event Sunday and I realized I was going to Raw last minute. That was a bit of a last-minute decision.

"There was also the option of maybe I go out there and do some teasing and come back later when it’s time to actually cash in or go back to SmackDown and cash in there. I wasn’t really sure. It was an afternoon, that day decision and it all happened very, very quickly.

"For me, it was definitely not something that was set in stone days and days ahead."
