The estate of Janette Becraft has filed a lawsuit against her widower and alleged killer William 'Billy Jack' Haynes.
A $750,000 lawsuit was filed by the estate in Multnomah County, Oregon on May 22, according to FOX 12 Oregon. Haynes has been accused in the lawsuit of "repeated mental, physical and financial abuse" towards Becraft. Among the allegations, it is claimed Haynes made Becraft cut off contact to her family, liquidate her retirement funds and withdraw money from her account, and abandon her medical providers in favour of doctors he had a historical relationship with.
It is also alleged that Haynes introduced Becraft to drugs, forced her to purchase a gun that he was unable to buy due to his criminal record, and that Haynes coerced Becraft into marrying him in 2021. The lawsuit states that Becraft was susceptible to "force, threat, duress, coercion, persuasion or physical or emotional injury" due to being elderly, vulnerable and disabled.
Billy Jack Haynes is currently receiving treatment at Oregon State Hospital after being declared unfit to stand trial. Haynes is accused of murdering Janette Becraft on February 8, 2024.
Haynes was a mainstay in the Portland area during his time as a pro wrestler. He performed for WWE from the mid-to-late 1980s, including at WrestleMania III where he faced Hercules Hernandez. Haynes also had a brief run with WCW in 1991 as Black Blood and ended his career in 1996 in the USWA.
