The NXT cruiserweight division continues to grow.

Similar to Carmelo Hayes a few weeks ago, former independent wrestling standout Blake Christian made his WWE debut on last night's edition of NXT as Trey Baxter after he answered Kushida's challenge.

Baxter received a video package before his debut and he put in an impressive showing against The Time Splitter, but Kushida picked up the win after 10 minutes after applying the Hoverboard Lock.

This wasn't Baxter's first appearance on WWE TV, having previously been a millionaire in the Cameron Grimes-Ted DiBiase auction vignette, but this was his official debut.

Baxter signed with WWE in February 2021 after building an impressive resume for himself. In 2020 and 2021 alone, he competed for GCW, Black Label Pro, New Japan Pro-Wrestling and IMPACT Wrestling.

Christian was involved in many cruiserweight tournaments before signing with WWE too. He first competed in NJPW's Super J-Cup in December 2020 and he later entered IMPACT's Super X-Cup at the start of the new year.
