Bret Hart Hasn't Been Asked To Be Involved In Owen Hart Cup, Believes It Would "Ruffle WWE's Feathers"
Bret Hart likely won't be involved in the Owen Hart Cup in the future
For the last three years, AEW has hosted the Owen Hart Memorial Cup, which sees a men and women’s knockout tournament, with the winners getting a title belt and their names on a trophy. In 2024, the stakes were even higher, with title shots at AEW All In up for grabs too. Martha Hart has been actively involved with the tournament, though this is the height of the wider Hart Family’s presence within the tournament and with AEW in recent times.
During a virtual signing with Signed By Superstars, WWE Hall Of Famer Bret Hart was asked if he’d been approached by AEW to get involved, to which he revealed he hadn’t.
“No, nobody’s ever asked me. I’d have to think about it. I like Tony and I’d be happy to help out but I don’t know if I want to go down… I think it might ruffle WWE’s feathers and I get all my (royalties), everything tied in through them. But then again, it can’t hurt to ask.”
Hart was involved at AEW’s very first ever PPV, Double Or Nothing 2019, presenting the AEW World Championship belt.
