Hulk Hogan - sporting a nasty shiner to his left eye - delivers a promo backstage at WWE WrestleMania IX

On April 11, a new documentary chronicling WrestleMania IX debuted on Peacock.

Clocking in at close to two hours in length, WrestleMania IX: Becoming a Spectacle covered a lot of ground when it came to what went down before, during, and after that particular WrestleMania. One topic that was dissected was just how Hulk Hogan got the black eye he was noticeably sporting during the event.

Hogan himself claimed it was the result of a jet ski accident that happened two days before the show, an account that was backed up by Brutus Beefcake and corroborated by Bruce Prichard.

However, there have long been rumours that Hulk's perennial frenemy Randy Savage gave him the black eye due to personal issues between the two. Scott Steiner claimed during the documentary that Savage had confirmed this version of events to him, saying:

"The story is Macho Man punched him, beat him up. I wasn't there so I don't know but that was the story going around. I rolled with Macho Man. He told me what really happened. And I believe Macho Man's story. So I believe what he told me. But he wasn't happy about it".

Bret Hart doesn't remember too much of what went down, but he does know whose account he believes, telling TMZ:

"Hulk Hogan's always been such a liar. Whatever he tells you is probably not true. Macho Man, I'd go by his account of things. Macho Man was a much more reliable guy that spoke the truth".

During the documentary, Hogan denied that he ever had a physical altercation with Savage.

The Hitman recently revealed that he was planned to have a six-year reign as WWE Champion before being 'betrayed' by Vince McMahon and Hogan at 'Mania IX.
