Brock Lesnar Considered Himself To Be Retired Following WWE WrestleMania 36

A short retirement

Speaking on The Michael Kay Show, Brock Lesnar revealed he considered himself to be retired following his WrestleMania 36 match against Drew McIntyre, in which The Beast Incarnate dropped the WWE Championship to his opponent.

"When I was younger I thought, I wanna retire when I'm 40. I actually retired when COVID hit and my contract was up in 2020. Full circle Brock Lesnar story, I had my first wrestling match in Minnesota was in a garage with no people. 20 years later, had a WWE Title match at WrestleMania in a warehouse in front of no people. 20 years, full circle. I was like 'I'm out,'" Lesnar said.

The Beast left WWE following the 2020 edition of The Show Of Shows after his contract expired. He would only remain retired for 18 months, though, returning at SummerSlam in August of 2021 to confront Roman Reigns.

Since his comeback, Lesnar has cemented himself as a main eventer once again and he is the reigning WWE Champion. The 44-year-old will take on Reigns in a Championship Unification Match at WrestleMania 38.

When asked about why he came out of retirement, Lesnar simply replied,"Cha-ching!"
