Brock Lesnar To Defend WWE Title Before WrestleMania 38
A roadblock for Lesnar
Feb 22, 2022
While a Title vs. Title Match between WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and Universal Champion Roman Reigns has been set for WrestleMania 38, the contest may have to be changed before The Show of Shows.
Lesnar appeared on Monday's episode of Raw from Columbia, South Carolina to celebrate his latest WWE Title win but The Beast Incarnate was interrupted by his former advocate Paul Heyman. After a back-and-forth between the former allies, Heyman announced a roadblock had been placed in the "farm boy's" way and Lesnar would have to defend the WWE Championship at the March 5 house show in Madison Square Garden.
Heyman revealed Lesnar's currently scheduled opponent was Bobby Lashley if the former champion could pass 'concussion protocol.' If Lashley couldn't, though, a new opponent for Lesnar would be found for the show.
Lashley's chances of making the MSG house show are very slim, however, as The All Mighty will reportedly undergo shoulder surgery and is expected to be out of action for four months.
Several other big stars are set to be in action at Madison Square Garden on March 5, including Ronda Rousey, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. This comes after the company struggled to sell tickets for the December 26, 2021, live event which sold just over 5000 tickets.
