Bron Breakker Given Brock Lesnar's Creative At WWE Royal Rumble

A Bron for Brock swap in the men's Royal Rumble match.

NXT star Bron Breakker took the spot originally scheduled for Brock Lesnar in the 2024 men's WWE Royal Rumble match.

The former NXT Champion entered at number 20 and lasted a little over five minutes. In that time he eliminated Jimmy Uso, Finn Balor, Ivar and Omos before being dumped over the top rope by Dominik Mysterio.

Speaking about Lesnar's absence and Bron's participation during a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said:

"I think most people know this but Brock Lesnar was scheduled to return at the Rumble and this was a change, obviously, that was made because of the lawsuit. So, the change was made probably Friday, most likely, perhaps Saturday morning.

"Bron Breakker, because of that, and the fact that the match was pretty much scripted out already, Bron Breakker essentially fulfilled the Brock Lesnar role. He came in when Brock Lesnar was going to come in, he threw out the guys Brock Lesnar was going to throw out, he got thrown out exactly how Brock Lesnar was going to get thrown out".

Lesnar was removed from the show following the lawsuit Janel Grant filed against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis and WWE.

Though he was not directly named in the lawsuit, The Wall Street Journal did name Lesnar as the WWE Superstar who was described as a 'Former UFC Heavyweight Champion'.

Meltzer added that Breakker had not originally been scheduled for the match, saying:

"Brock was going to be in there looking impressive so they needed someone to fill those shoes. There weren't a lot of guys that they would give that spot to".

Vince McMahon resigned from his positions within TKO and WWE on Friday. He is still a major shareholder in TKO, however, owning about 12 percent of the organisation's stock.
