Buddy Matthews is seemingly injured following Saturday night's AEW Grand Slam Australia special from the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
Matthews rolled his ankle after jumping from the turnbuckle to the mat during his entrance at Grand Slam Australia for his AEW Continental Title match with Kazuchika Okada.
Following his loss, Matthews could be seen hobbling and he has been spotted holding a crutch since Grand Slam Australia in a selfie with wife Rhea Ripley. The WWE Women's World Champion also hinted Matthews was dealing with an injury, writing on Instagram: "Ain't no Roly-Poly ankles gonna keep us down! Let the honeymoon commence!"
Matthews joked about the controversy surrounding the AEW Grand Slam Australia ring, tweeting then deleting that he wouldn't have injured his ankle if AEW's ring hadn't been so small. He followed up with a troll photo, confirming his post was simply sarcasm.
Buddy Matthews and Rhea Ripley have been married since June 2024. They went public with their relationship in 2022 and announced their engagement in August 2023, with Matthews popping the question during an outing at Florida's Cocoa Beach Pier.
