Cassie Lee (FKA Peyton Royce) pitched to return to NXT ahead of her WWE release.

Royce spent three years in NXT before she was called up to the main roster alongside her IIconics tag team partner Billie Kay (now Jessica McKay) in 2018. Royce and Kay would then remain together on the main roster, becoming Women's Tag Team Champions along the way, before their split in August 2020.

Royce would soon form a tag team with Lacey Evans but Peyton found herself as a singles wrestler in the women's division ahead of WrestleMania 37.

Speaking to Cageside Seats' Shakiel Mahjouri, Cassie Lee revealed she pitched an NXT return before her WWE release.

"I actually asked to go back and it was kind of, you know, it 'was being looked into,' is what I was told and then I got released," Lee said.

Lee didn't return to NXT, though, and she was released by WWE along with Billie Kay following WrestleMania 37.

Lee and McKay have since reformed their team as The IInspiration and they will be at several conventions in October and November.
