Charlotte Flair Suffered Torn ACL, MCL & Meniscus

Surgery will rule Charlotte Flair out of WWE WrestleMania 40

The injury Charlotte Flair suffered during her match against Asuka on the December 8 edition of WWE SmackDown is worse than originally thought.

Both competitors fell while perched on the top rope, with Flair taking the worst of it by hitting the ropes and then landing on her head in the ring. The spot happened during a commercial break and (even though she wrestled for several more minutes) it was obvious that Charlotte was in pain.

Providing an update, PWInsider noted that the 37-year-old is set to undergo surgery in the near future, having suffered a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus. The site had previously noted that they were told the surgery is being scheduled around the holidays, which is why it hasn't happened yet. It is also believed (though not confirmed) that Flair also suffered a strained neck in the fall.

WWE have said that The Queen will be out of action for nine months, meaning she will miss WrestleMania 40, and possibly SummerSlam as well. Charlotte herself hasn't commented on the injury, but did post a broken heart emoji on X (on December 16).

Cultaholic Wrestling sends its best to Charlotte Flair and hopes for a speedy recovery.
