Cody Rhodes may not be WWE's top babyface for the long-term future, with the former Undisputed WWE Champion revealing that he believes he only has between one and three years left as a good guy in WWE.
After being asked if he ever gets tired of being a babyface by Kay Adams at Fanatics Fest, Cody answered:
"I don't ever get tired of it because you get to have all of this and these moments. I do think we're probably at the tail end of it, though, because there's only so much someone can like you. I would love to do it until the end of my career but there's only so much, 'Alright, we do his woah, we cheer for him.' At a certain point, they want to see somebody else. I get that and that's where you have to change as a character."
Rhodes admitted fans will know when he is in the process of turning heel as he doesn't plan to be a "cool heel."
"You'll know because X and Instagram will hate it because today heels are like, 'Oh, that's a cool heel. We're loving John Cena.' No, if you're burying it and hate it and talking about how you don't want it on your TV, that's what an actual bad guy is."
Rhodes then confirmed The Rock wanted to turn him heel already, adding:
"I think you have a good solid year, maybe even three years, because I am not changing until I'm changed. My hair is naturally dark, I don't know if I could go back. But if The Rock had it his way, I would have been changed already. So I think he sees something that maybe I don't see. And that's a very smart individual so maybe I follow his lead, maybe not."
It emerged ahead of WrestleMania 41 that The Rock legitimately pushed behind the scenes for Cody Rhodes to turn heel, but the American Nightmare rejected the pitch. This led to John Cena turning heel instead at WWE Elimination Chamber.
Cody Rhodes has not been a heel since 2018 when he was part of Bullet Club, with Rhodes infamously reluctant to turning to the dark side during his run in All Elite Wrestling.
