Coronation Street's Les Battersby To Make Pro Wrestling Debut

LES BATTERSBY!!

Another normal day in British professional wrestling.

In what will surely be a momentous day for Manchester, England, Sovereign Pro Wrestling have announced that LES BATTERSBY from Coronation Street will make his SOVPRO debut on February 18, 2024. The British independent wrestling promotion will hold their 'It's Dark and Hell is Hot' show that day at the Trinity Sports Centre in Manchester.

"This is not a drill. This is not a parody. From the infamous cobbles of Weatherfield, The Champion of the Rovers Return, THE Les Battersby makes his SOVPRO debut on Feb 18th," SOVPRO tweeted

Tickets for the show are available now. Already announced is Leon Slater vs. Jordan Oliver for the SOVPRO Commonwealth Championship.

Les Battersby, portrayed by Bruce Jones, was a regular on British TV soap opera Coronation Street between 1997 and 2008. The soap opera focuses on Coronation Street in Weatherfield, a town based on Salford, England.

Battersby arrived with wife Janice, who ultimately left him. Battersby then found a new family in Cilla Brown, son Chesney, and dog Schmeichel. Battersby abandoned them in 2007, though, and left Weatherfield to go on tour with ZZ Top O' the Morning, a tribute band for ZZ Top.

The SOVPRO announcement comes only days after Riot Cabaret revealed Mr Blobby will make his pro wrestling return on December 19
