Sting has adopted more of a daredevil style since he began to team with Darby Allin in All Elite Wrestling, with The Icon regularly throwing himself off structures and balconies to take out opponents.

Sting hasn't left each of his AEW matches unscathed, though, and Darby Allin revealed on the Hawk vs. Wolf podcast that The Franchise sustained a dislocated knee during their tag team match against Brody King and Buddy Matthews at Rampage Grand Slam in September 2022.

"It was crazy. In the middle of the match in Arthur Ashe [Stadium], it's like 20,000 people there in New York. In the middle of a match, his knee dislocates and I hear him screaming and he's trying to put it back in place and it's locked up...No (I didn't physically see his knee dislocate in real time) because he has all these long pants on and stuff...But it was insane how he just finished the match. I was like, 'Holy crap. This is insane,'" Darby said.

Sting did reveal in December that he underwent surgery several weeks earlier to clean out his "very old knees." The WWE Hall of Famer now looks set to allow his in-ring career to wind down, with Sting expected to retire when his AEW contract expires in 2023.
