Darby Allin Shoots On Choosing AEW Over WWE

The Invisible Man speaks...

Since debuting in All Elite Wrestling at Fyter Fest, Darby Allin has established himself as one of the young promotion's top stars. He has competed in high profile matches against Cody, Pac, Jon Moxley, and even faced Chris Jericho for the AEW World Championship.

During a recent interview with Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, Allin was asked about why he chose to sign with AEW instead of WWE. Allin explained it was an easy choice because he believes he would have wound up on 205 Live, which "nobody watches," and the company wouldn't have done anything with him.

The Invisible Man said: "It’s easy, 205 live or like proper respect as a performer and as a human being…You really think I want to go there and sit on a show that nobody watches…Here it was pretty obvious."

Allin also said WWE would have stifled him creatively, which would have made him "depressed." He and Alvarez used the entrance videos which he directs and shoots with a friend as an example of something that wouldn't be allowed in WWE.

Alvarez stated: "Like talent creating their own video that’s going to air on the tron, it would never happen," in WWE.

The former PWG star responded: "That’s what I’m saying. I get severely, severely depressed and pissed off if I cannot be me as a human being and as a performer most importantly. I’m a very creative person and I’m not the type of person that you can just like, 'Alright coach, tell me what to do from A to Z.'"
