Dave Meltzer On Recent CM Punk/AEW Saga: "This Is Not A Work. He Doesn't Want To Wrestle"

The latest on the rumors...

In a recent interview with ESPN, CM Punk discussed his relationship with members of All Elite Wrestling's upper echelon, including Cody Rhodes and Matt Jackson, and admitted that they've reached out with offers to come work for them.

In the interview, Punk explicitly stated of his interactions with the AEW executives, "I always think if somebody wants to do business with me, they can come talk to me. Texting offers isn’t really a way to do good business, at least."

Some have interpreted Punk's comments as possibly being a work, setting up an angle with either Rhodes or The Young Bucks.

While Punk will be appearing at Starrcast III in his native Chicago on the weekend of AEW All Out, his interest in working in conjunction with the company appears to end there, per comments from Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio.

Said Meltzer, "Everybody's like, 'Oh this is a work', and all that - this is not a work. He doesn't want to wrestle. And he doesn't have to wrestle. When he got signed to Starrcast, there was a lot of speculation, but he said stuff like, essentially, the guys at AEW were using his name, fanning the flames and all this."
