Dean Ambrose Could Be Out Of Action For Six Months

The Lunatic Fringe will be examined for a suspected triceps tendon tear.

WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose could be out of action for six months, according to an official announcement from WWE. The Lunatic Fringe is said to have suffered a high-grade triceps tendon injury, and is expected to undergo 'surgical exploration' to determine its severity:

'"An MRI has shown suspicion for a high-grade triceps tendon injury, possibly a tear, so he is undergoing surgical exploration and most likely surgical repair of the torn triceps tendon,” WWE Senior Ringside Physician Dr. Chris Amann told WWE.com. “That surgery will be happening later this evening, and we should have some further updates either later tonight or tomorrow morning as to what the findings were, what the structures that were damaged were, and also a timeline for recovery."'

WWE.com provided a kayfabe reason for the injury, stating:

'Dean Ambrose sustained an injury to his right arm during Raw’s Six-Man Tag Team Match, and the damage was exacerbated when his opponents, Samoa Joe and Raw Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus, assaulted The Lunatic Fringe in the trainer’s room. The attack culminated when Joe slammed a road case onto Ambrose’s arm, leaving him writhing in pain. Ambrose was taken to a nearby medical facility for X-rays and evaluation.'

This took place on last night's edition of Raw, but it's suspected that Ambrose was carrying the injury into the match. He wrestled with protective gear on his arm, and the attack by Samoa Joe seems to have been written into the match to provide an explanation for the injury, rather than being the actual cause.

Should a full tear by detected, it is likely that Ambrose will be out of action for around six months, according to a report by RingsideNews.com. This would, of course, mean that he would miss WrestleMania in April.

Ambrose has a key role in Raw storylines at the moment, considering his status as a member of the reformed Shield.
