Another All Elite Wrestling performer is working backstage for the company as a producer, following in the footsteps of Angelico.
Recent reports noted how AEW original Angelico has been pulling double duty as both an in-ring performer for Ring of Honor and a backstage producer in AEW, and a report from Fightful Select states that Tony Nese is doing the same.
Like Angelico, Nese still wrestles for the company under the ROH umbrella as part of The Premier Athletes team with Ariya Daivari, but was listed as a coach/agent/producer for a match on the August 9 edition of AEW Collision. When asked about Nese’s work backstage, sources indicated that Nese has been working in the role for some time, it just wasn’t public knowledge.
Formerly part of TNA and WWE - holding the Cruiserweight Championship in the latter - Nese joined AEW in late 2021, and has since wrestled across AEW and sister company ROH. In AEW, Nese has been allied with the likes of Daivari and Josh Woods, the three known as The Varsity Athletes and The Premier Athletes under the management of ‘Smart’ Mark Sterling. Nese has wrestled 11 matches in 2025.
