Donald Trump - who would go on to become the 45th and 47th president of the United States - was one of the headline acts at 2007's WWE WrestleMania 23 as part of the Battle of the Billionaires against Vince McMahon, with Trump selecting Bobby Lashley as his champion opposite McMahon's Umaga.
Ahead of the match, Trump was featured in a backstage segment with The Boogeyman at WrestleMania 23 as the worm-loving WWE wrestler tried to scare Trump with his, "I'm The Boogeyman and I'm coming to get you" catchphrase. Trump no-sold Boogeyman, however, and told the WWE talent to go and get him some sandwiches as he hadn't been provided with food, which the Boogeyman promptly did. The segment ended with Trump coming face-to-face with Little Boogeyman.
Appearing on Going Ringside, The Boogeyman revealed that original plans called for him to grab Trump and offer him a worm sandwich, but the current president of the United States nixed it as he didn't want to "show fear."
"In that segment, when I come out from behind the couch and you also have Miss America there as well, and she ran off. Being Donald, Mr Trump, President Trump, as he is, he didn't want to be frightened, so he's just talking about how this place is a circus. True enough, it is. But he didn't want to sell my character. He says, 'Go and make me a sandwich.' You see me walk off-screen, but then I came back and grabbed him by the collar and said, 'How about a worm sandwich?' They cut that because he did not want to show fear," Boogeyman revealed.
"He didn't want to look scared. He didn't want to show that he was frightened. This is a true story. I came back because Vince wants this character to be The Boogeyman, and in all actuality I got somewhat in trouble, or heat for it, because I allowed him to not show fearness, which almost kills the character. So, that's how it went," he continued.
"But I was very fortunate. I can say that I actually met the president before he was president. Donald Trump knows The Boogeyman."
Bobby Lashley ultimately defeated Umaga in the Battle of the Billionaires, with Trump getting involved at one point and laying out Vince McMahon. Trump helped Steve Austin shave McMahon's head after the match, but ended the night by receiving a Stone Cold stunner.
While pro wrestling is pre-determined, Donald Trump was still worried about potentially losing his hair to the point he had his associates look over the contract to ensure that Trump would not have his head shaved even if Bobby Lashley "dropped dead in the ring."
