Drew McIntyre Recalls Rey Mysterio Pushing To Work With Him In WWE

Drew McIntyre has glowing praise for fellow WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio.

Speaking to Metro, WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre talked about Rey Mysterio actively pushing to work with him earlier in his career.

Drew explained that it took place during his original WWE run:

"I remember having a match on SmackDown on one time, which went really well – the first time we’d wrestled in a singles match. I wasn’t doing anything significant at the time, my career was on a bit of a downward spiral at the time.

"I really needed to get into a storyline or work with somebody that could get be back on the right path. Rey actually went to Vince himself and told him, 'You’ve got something with this guy, I’d really love to do something with him.' [...] It never materialised, they had plans for him unfortunately, but he really went out of his way to try and push for me."

McIntyre emphasised that he has the utmost respect for Mysterio, and that he finds it incredible that the masked fan favourite is still wrestling at a high level today.

Rey is currently set to team with son Dominik against The Miz and YouTuber Logan Paul at WrestleMania 38, while McIntyre is booked for a match against Happy Corbin.
