Drew McIntyre Reveals How Scripted WWE Promos Actually Are

The Scotsman teams with Shane McMahon at Extreme Rules next month...

At the Extreme Rules pay-per-view on July 14, Drew McIntyre will team with Shane McMahon to face the unlikely duo of Roman Reigns and The Undertaker.

The Scottish Psychopath recently spoke with Sam Roberts where the topic of scripted promos in WWE cropped up.

Drew says that despite rumours WWE Superstars are forced to say exactly what is written down for them, that isn't quite as it seems: "I feel like as much as everybody reads online that you’re handed these scripts & you have to say everything you know, verbatim & word for word, & you’ve got no say in who you are. That’s not really true."

McIntyre, who lost to Reigns at the Stomping Grounds event on Sunday, says he's taken inspiration from John Cena when it comes to speaking on WWE shows: "I’ve been kind of observing like with what John Cena’s been saying recently that you’ve gotta take what you’re given and make it your own, and put you into it. Because if you don’t put you into it, it’s not gonna feel real to you."
