A former IWGP Heavyweight Champion is expected to sign with WWE.

Bryan Alvarez has reported on Wrestling Observer Live that EVIL could be leaving New Japan Pro-Wrestling, saying: "By the way, EVIL might be on his way out of New Japan, and it is strongly rumoured that he is on his way to WWE."

Super J-Cast further reported that EVIL has actually given his notice to NJPW and his expected destination is WWE.

Should EVIL indeed exit NJPW, he would end his 15-year association with the promotion, having begun his pro wrestling career as a young lion in New Japan back in 2011. He returned from excursion in 2015 and was repackaged as "King of Darkness" EVIL, and the 38-year-old has been a featured performer in NJPW ever since.

In addition to his IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental Double Title reign in 2020, EVIL is a four-time NEVER Openweight Champion, two-time IWGP Tag Team Champion with SANADA, and six-time NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champion. He was part of two of NJPW's biggest-ever factions in Los Ingobernables de Japon and Bullet Club, and he has been the leader of House of Torture since 2021.

EVIL dropped the NEVER Openweight Title to Aaron Wolf at Wrestle Kingdom 20, and it emerged around the show that EVIL was considering his options. There was not expected to be AEW interest in EVIL as Tony Khan is not a fan of the 38-year-old.

WWE are reportedly interested in multiple NJPW stars, including Gabe Kidd and David Finlay.
