A fan has claimed they were banned from attending the February 11 episode of AEW Dynamite at Toyota Arena in Ontario, California due to wearing one of Brody King's Abolish ICE t-shirts.
The fan, who goes by Scooty Puff Sr, The Doom Bringer, said on X/Twitter:
"Today, I was supposed to go to AEW Dynamite, which is taking place right behind me today at Toyota Arena here in Ontario, California. However, the security guards here at that building denied me entry, pretty much behind me, for the day because of my shirt, the Brody King Abolish ICE t-shirt that I'm wearing. The ones that Brody King has been slaying with the proceeds going to people that have been affected by ICE harassing around the country. Yeah, that one.
"I've got to say, Toyota Arena, that's not a good look. They wanted me to turn the shirt inside out and when I told them about what the situation was, they were not having it. Chris Shaw, I guess who I'm assuming is the head of security inside the building, he had a short fuse and denied me entry before I can even properly explain myself, but it is what it is. They claim that they don't want any political controversies and all and they thought my shirt might offend people. It's like, 'Dude, really?' I'm probably wearing one of the most popular shirts inside the building had I been inside. I don't know what else to say. I guess I'm just going to take my L. I'm gonna go home. It's unfortunate that the security guards here feel a type of way. It's a damn shame."
According to his LinkedIn profile, Chris Shaw is the Regional Director of Safety and Security at Toyota Arena. On clothing, the A-Z guide for Toyota Arena states: "All guests in attendance are required to wear a t-shirt, pants, and shoes at all times. Toyota Arena management reserves the right to deny entry to guests wearing clothing items that display offensive text, gestures, or images."
While one fan was banned from the arena, other spectators were able to enter the venue while wearing Abolish ICE t-shirts, with one fan even being shown during the broadcast.
Brody King himself was not on Dynamite in person, however, and his only involvement on the show was in a video package promoting his AEW World Title match against MJF at Grand Slam Australia. Warner Bros. Discovery reportedly blocked King from being on the show because of last week's "F*ck ICE" chants on Dynamite.
Fans can currently pre-order a new version of Brody King's Abolish ICE t-shirt, with all proceeds donated to the Minnesota Immigration Rights Action Committee.
