Former ROH World Champion Debuts At Impact Wrestling Rebellion (EVENT SPOILERS)

Who is it?

At the Rebel Complex in Toronto on Sunday night, Impact Wrestling debuted a new talent and immediately set him up as a World title challenger. The event's location proved to be rather convenient, given the newcomer happens to be from the area.

After Brian Cage defeated Johnny Impact to capture the World Heavyweight title, he was immediately confronted by Toronto native Michael Elgin. The two heavyweights stared each other down before Elgin jumped Cage, hitting him with the Elgin Bomb.

Elgin most recently wrestled for New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he had worked since 2015. He did not re-sign with NJPW earlier this year, and his contract lapsed on April 1. His last match with the company saw him take part in a six-man tag, teaming with Colt Cabana and Toa Henare in victory over Satoshi Kojima, Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Shota Umino.

In his career, Elgin reigned for two and a half months in 2014 as ROH World Champion, and held the IWGP Intercontinental, NEVER Openweight, and NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team titles once each.
