Former WWE Employee Appointed UK Education Secretary

No WWE moves in the cabinet, hopefully

UK politics has crossed over into the world of professional wrestling.

Boris Johnson's future as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is once again up in the air after Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid resigned yesterday.

Their resignations prompted a cabinet reshuffle and Nadhim Zahawi was moved from his position as Secretary of State for Education and appointed the new Chancellor of the Exchequer. Replacing Zahawi was Michelle Donelan, the MP for Chippenham, who is actually a former WWE employee.

Before she was elected as a Member of Parliament in 2015, Donelan worked for WWE as an International Marketing Communications Manager, and she joked on her website this proves popular in school democracy workshops. She was actually still employed by WWE when she was selected as a Conservative Party candidate for the 2015 General Election.

Politics and WWE, of course, have been linked in the past but primarily in the United States. WWE Hall Of Famer Donald Trump was the President of the United States from 2017 until 2021, while Kane is currently the Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. Jesse "The Body" Ventura was also the Governor of Minnesota from 1999 until 2003.
