Former WWE Talent Appears At NJPW Dominion, Declares For G1 Climax (EVENT SPOILERS)

Who is it?

An eventful New Japan Pro Wrestling Dominion card in Osaka wrapped up on Sunday, with quite a bit in the way of excellent matches and notable occurrences. One of the more unexpected developments, however, was a familiar face making a surprise appearance.

KENTA, known most recently for his time in WWE and NXT as Hideo Itami, appeared at Dominion, introduced by Katsuyori Shibata. Wearing Shibata's "Takeover" t-shirt, KENTA announced his intentions to enter the 2019 G1 Climax.

KENTA wasn't the only man to declare entry for the tournament at Dominion. Both Jon Moxley and Shingo Takagi also did so after their respective victories at the event.

As Itami, KENTA was signed with WWE from June 2014 through February 2019, primarily wrestling for NXT during that time. Injuries, however, would hamper his time with the company, stunting what seemed to be an inevitable call-up to the main roster.

From late 2017 up until his departure, Itami wrestled on 205 Live, most notably in a four-way Cruiserweight title match on the Royal Rumble Kickoff show. Shortly after, he requested his release, and formally departed WWE on February 22.
