Four More Competitors Announced For WWE Mae Young Classic

Including a particular Superstar who missed out last time around...

WWE have officially announced four more competitors for the upcoming Mae Young Classic - the second such instalment of the all-woman tournament, following Kairi Sane's triumph last year.

Perhaps the most noteworthy addition is 23 year old Welsh Superstar Tegan Nox - known by many on the independent scene as Nixon Newell. The Performance Center signee was a popular fixture of many UK promotions, including Fight Club Pro, ATTACK Pro, and WCPW. She was scheduled to compete in last year's Mae Young Classic, but was unfortunately sidelined by injury before it began.

Another big name announced is that of Deonna Purrazzo, one of the biggest female stars outside of WWE over the past few years. She has made regular appearances in Ring of Honor, and competed in IMPACT, STARDOM, and even NXT on a more sporadic basis.

The third announced name is Jessice Elaban, a less experienced Superstar than Nox or Purrazzo, but one with an athletic background nonetheless. WWE's official announcement describes her thusly:

[Also in the tournament is] former collegiate volleyball player and NXT rookie Jessica Elaban. Standing 5-foot-10, the rangy Elaban has been pegged as an up-and-comer to watch since joining the WWE PC last May. An athlete her entire life, Elaban also excelled at soccer, basketball, track and dance before setting her sights on the squared circle. Having spent the past year learning under the WWE PC’s world-class coaching staff, Elaban looks to prove that she can hang with the world’s best female wrestlers, despite being a relative newcomer to the ring.'

Finally, Reina Gonzalez is the fourth name announced today. A second-generation wrestler (being the daughter of Ricky 'Desperado' Gonzalez), she will be making her second Mae Young Classic appearance. Gonzalez competed in last year's tournament, losing to Nicole Savoy in the first round.
