Full Tournament Field Announced For 2019 WWE King Of The Ring

16 man field...

The field is now set for the 2019 WWE King of the Ring, a multi-week tournament that will culminate at the Clash of Champions pay-per-view on September 15 in Charlotte, NC.

Sixteen individuals have been confirmed as entrants for the tourney, with one side of the bracket consisting of eight Raw talents, and the other side eight from SmackDown.

The Raw side of the bracket will see the following first round matches:

-Cesaro vs. Samoa Joe

-Ricochet vs. Drew McIntyre

-Cedric Alexander vs. Sami Zayn

-The Miz vs. Baron Corbin

Over on the SmackDown side of things, the match-ups will include:

-Kevin Owens vs. Elias

-Ali vs. Buddy Murphy

-Chad Gable vs. Shelton Benjamin

-Andrade vs. Apollo Crews

Interestingly, none of the eight men involved in the last King of the Ring tournament (2015) are in this one. Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus, Luke Harper, and R-Truth are all still with the company, while eventual winner Wade Barrett left the following year. Meanwhile, Stardust, Dean Ambrose, and Neville are all currently under contract with AEW.

The semifinals are set to take place on the September 9 and 10 episodes of Raw and SmackDown, both of which will emanate from Madison Square Garden in New York City.
