Gunther has elevated the WWE Intercontinental Championship to the greatest heights it’s been at for decades, with the IMPERIUM leader becoming the longest-single reigning IC Champion ever, overtaking the Honky Tonk Man.
Despite his lofty reign with the IC Title, GUNTHER believes he has outgrown the championship, saying the following to WrestlingNews.co:
"That's not gonna happen," GUNTHER said when asked if the IC Title could main event night one of WrestleMania XL. "But I think there's a ranking system and everything for a reason. I think it's quite obvious that I outgrew the Intercontinental Championship already, I am ready to make that next step."
GUNTHER has mentioned his desire to face Brock Lesnar, but it seems ‘Der Ring General’ has his eyes set on a major world title, whether that’s Roman Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, or Seth Rollins' World Heavyweight Championship remains to be seen.
In WWE, GUNTHER is also a former NXT UK Champion, having held the title for over 870 days from April 2019 until August 2021.
