Gunther continues to make WWE history. The Intercontinental Champion’s reign with the gold has passed several big milestones thus far, and it has passed perhaps its biggest one to date. With his reign now reaching an astonishing 428 days, it means that earlier this week he became the second longest reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history.

The Ring General has now surpassed Pedro Morales’ Intercontinental Championship reign of 424 days, taking his second place spot which he has had ever since 1988. It is the first time since 1983 in fact that Morales hasn’t been within the top two places of all-time Intercontinental Title reigns, which just goes to show how historic this current spell with the gold has been for Gunther.

Gunther just has 26 days to go until he reaches the Honky Tonk Man’s iconic record - something he looks dead set on doing. Throughout this legendary reign, Gunther has defeated names such as Sheamus, Rey Mysterio, Drew McIntyre, Ricochet, Shinsuke Nakamura, Braun Strowman, Matt Riddle, and several more.
